Yes mine was the smaller 15 amp metal relay. The set up on mine seems to be the same as yours, I think the picture that Gavin Posted was for the non manual control type of air con . I did take a picture , the right hand black relay controls the rear cooler , the left hand metal relay is the 15 amp and was causing the problem , the right hand metal relay is the one that clicks on and off when the air con button is pressed. This is for the manual type heater controls.I haven't worked out what the left hand black one does yet. Hope this is or some use to all.

Hi Mark.
Yes, yours is the same as mine. I was considering fitting a 22A Relay instead of 15A as they seem to be a common problem and wondered whether the load was too much for 15A. Anyway I didn't this time but if it plays up again I might go down that route next time.
If anyone out there knows of any reason why not to upgarde the relay to 22A I would be keen to know, or maybe even already done so and what is the outcome is.

Good news I took the large black relay apart today and cleaned the contacts , even though they looked fine , and hey presto a working rear aircon blower. On the down side I went to my local Krap Fit and they said "yeh no problem " to regassing until they realised they didnt have the "Right settings", and couldn't get them, to put into their machine . Bloody computerised everything and no skilled tradesmen!!!!!!!! So tomorrow its going to a local garage for a regassing , vacumn test and lube all for £50 . Will keep you all posted, looking forward to icy cold air con.

Clive,

Yes, it looks like images embedded in the original postings have disappeared!

Linked images, using external sites such as photobucket, display correctly. Something on the forum must have changed in the last few months. I'll ask my forum moderator colleagues if there's been a system change.

I've been encountered this problem a long time ago. The fact that I have no idea because it's my first time used car with air con. Fortunately, the repairman fixed it and he told me how to repair it.
